Spring Break

With Will in school, we are getting our first tastes of planning around the school schedule. We celebrated Spring Break with lots of family time. Daddy even took the whole week off! We had fun at the park, went to story time and went to Minnesota for a few days.

Minnesota Day 1
The kids were great travelers on our way to MN. We made a quick stop in Nevada to drop off Maggie with G & G Fiscus and went through the drive thru at McDs in Story City for breakfast sandwiches. We managed to not stop again until we were at our final destination. No potty stops! No cranky kid stops!
McDs in the car
Our first stop in Minnesota was Firehouse Subs for lunch--the Richfield location (we were a little disappointed that they didn't have hats and their mural was hanging from the ceiling so we didn't get a picture with it to capture this visit)

Our next stop was the Children's Museum in St. Paul. The kids had a blast exploring, pretending and crafting.
Our little explorers

Will & Daddy using the pulley to bring a "snack" to the tree house.
Our mail carrier.

Here they come!
Will made me a beautiful necklace while we were at the Children's Museum.
We were in the middle of making funny faces.

Minnesota Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we headed to the Mall of America. We did lots of walking, Daddy & Will rode a couple of rides and the boys picked out new friends at Build-A-Bear.

Before our trip, Will was super excited to go to Legoland. We explained that it wasn't the real Legoland, but more like a giant Lego store. His response was, "I know. But let's just call it Legoland." So Legoland it was!
Will probably would have stayed all day at the Lego place to build.
Thomas enjoyed it too.
The boys with their new friends:
Will chose Leonardo the Ninja Turtle.
Thomas chose an elephant.
Bumper cars
Dora's school bus ride
(He didn't climb--we picked him up and set him there.)
Leonardo wanted a picture with one of his turtle friends.
Our little trooper got tired out!
That evening, we enjoyed pizza and then stopped to get ice cream to take back to the hotel.
Yum! Ice cream!
Thomas was over-tired and wound up!
That night, Will got sick. In bed. All over the bed (and a little on Daddy). Then got sick again on the carpet on the way to the bathroom. Was it the food? Was it the crazy rides he rode at the mall? It wouldn't be a vacation, if Will didn't throw up! We were relieved Leonardo was able to escape the ambush! (Our room was really smelly the rest of our stay.) At least we can laugh about it now!

Minnesota Day 3
When we woke the next morning, Will seemed to feel fine, so we went about our day as planned. On today's agenda: Ikea, another visit to a Firehouse Subs...

...a ride on the lightrail...

...and finished the evening with a dip in the pool...
The boys loved swimming and splashing!

Minnesota Day 4
We had heard the night before that snow was moving in to Minnesota. We were crossing our fingers that it would fizzle out and not do anything because Day 4 is when we were going to see Uncle Brian, Aunt Chris, Anna & Claire, but when we saw the radar and heard what was in store, we decided to head back early. We were all disappointed but when our drive slowed to 40 mph on the interstate we were glad that we were on our way before things got any worse.
It was the first day on our travels that Thomas spent the whole night in the
pack 'n play and not snuggled up with Mommy and both boys slept in!
