1st Ear Infection

Thursday, Will came down with a cold. He was pretty congested, but in good spirits. I slept with him most of Thursday night, because he was coughing quite a bit and needed extra snuggles. (Plus, he kept waking up, and truth is--I was tired!) Friday morning the "kiss on the forehead" technique told me he had a fever (and thermometer confirmed). He was pretty warm, clammy back and was pretty fidgety all night long. When he woke up, he covered his ear and complained that it hurt. We were able to get an appointment in the morning, but while we were waiting for the office to open and get that appointment, we cuddled on the couch under blankets and watched Curious George.

On the way to the clinic, he threw up his juice. Blah! He hadn't been interested in food or milk for breakfast.

Once at the clinic, as the nurse was taking his vitals, he fell asleep. COMPLETELY abnormal! This child does not nap unless he's bored in the car! The nurse practitioner came in and looked at his left ear; then looked at me with a sad face face and nodded. I said, "Uh oh. That was his left ear, he was complaining about his right." So, she took a peek at his right ear; again looked at me with a sad face and nodded. Ear infection x 2! Bummer! He again fell asleep on my lap as we discussed his medicine, where we would pick it up and all that jazz. He woke up as we were heading out to the waiting room to exit...when he threw up again. Yeck! Poor boy threw up again on the way home, after we picked up squeezies, juice, Pedialyte, Motrin, Tylenol and Amoxicillin at Target (and some chocolate for Mommy!). He slept in my arms in Target, all nestled into my neck. Mommies love all the cuddles, it's just too bad he had to be sick to do it!

He had one dose of Motrin and Amoxicillin when we got home and 10 minutes later, he found me in the kitchen and told me "Me all better!". What a sweetheart.

He's not complaining about his ears anymore, but has developed a cough and sounds pretty congested.

This too, shall pass...
